Hi there. My name is Byron Usswald and I am the Foreign English teacher for Guemam Elementary School. The overall experience of teaching English in Korea has been great! Here at Guemam Elementary students are always enthusiastic in the classroom and my fellow co-workers, Vice principal and Principal have been very welcoming! I’ve met some great teachers here that have not only assisted me in the conducting of my classes, but that have taught me many valuable skills!

One of the biggest benefits of being a Foreign English teacher in the classroom here in Korea is that the students are exposed to English first hand. This applies not only in the classroom, but during break times or passing them on the street. As with the learning of any language, our ability is developed through the constant use of it, especially in real life situations, something which the Korean curriculum gets very close to providing!

Infomatization is one of the characteristics in modern society. So especially learning English is An International competitiveness which can get any  information what we need to fast. However, It is important  how to give and find the information. Thus, It’s glad to meet Parents’News24 which relate to educate and share happening in school in Korea. Congratulation for starting the Parent’s news24. I hope you to be a new maker informing a good news. 

       I would just like to say a huge thank you to my school, but most importantly, to Korea! Having the opportunity to experience such a great Nation which is rich in History and culture has been an experience I will never forget! 안녕하세요. 저는 금암초등학교에서 원어민영어교사 바이런이라고 합니다. 지금까지 한국에서 영어를 가르치는 경험이 제겐 아주 좋았습니다. 이곳 금암초등학교 학생들과 선생님들은 항상 교실에서 영어공부에 대한 열정이 대단합니다. 교장선생님과 교감선생님은 매우 친절한 모습으로 환영해 주십니다.  저는 또한 이곳에서 여러 훌륭한 선생님을 알게 되었고 매우 도움이 되는 소중한 것들을 배울 수 있었습니다.

이곳 한국의 교실에서 영어교사로서 가장 큰 유익은 학생들로 하여금 직접 체험할 수 있는 영어에 노출시킨다는 것입니다. 교실에서 배운 영어를 교실뿐만 아이라, 쉬는 시간에도 거리를 지나가면서도 학생들은 영어를 사용하려도 노력합니다. 어떤 언어를 배울때 우리의 언어능력은 그것의 부단한 사용을 통해 향상시킬 수 있습니다. 한국의 현재 영어교육 커리큘럼에서 특히 일상생활 속에서 실제적인 상황과 관련된 것을 잘 반영하고 있습니다.

현대 사회는 정보의 사회입니다. 필요한 정보를 빨리 얻는 것이 경쟁력이지요. 그래서 초등학교에서도 영어를 배우는 것이라고 생각합니다. 그러나 정보를 어떻게 제공하고 어떻게 찾느냐도 중요합니다. 이런 때에 학부모뉴스24가 창간되어  교육에 관련된 여러가지 소식을 전하게 되는 것은  반가운 일입니다. 학교에서 일어나는 여러가지 일들이 보도되고 알려지는 일은 중요한 교육소식 입니다.

저는 지금까지 한국에서 근무했던 금암초등학교에 많은 감사하다는 말씀을 전하고 싶습니다. 역사와 문화가 훌륭한 국가에 경험하는 기회를 가지게 된 것은 결코 잊지 못 할 좋은 추억이었습니다. 한국은 점점 더 강하고 한국의 학생들은 글로벌 한 스케일로 더 위대해질 것임을 확신합니다. 저와 함깨 해주셔서 감사 드립니다.
